The context of your business is really, really important. 
 
As an example, a glass of water has a really strong context because it holds the content well. So if something happened in the environment around the glass, say I had a lighter and I lit it underneath the glass, what’s going to happen to the glass? It’s unlikely there will be very much impact, because the glass is actually pretty solid and if it had a burning flame underneath it, it would take quite a lot of heat for quite a long time for it to actually have some impact. 
 
Whereas if we had a paper cup, or plastic cup, when they have water in they go all weak. Imagine I have one of those, and I light a lighter underneath it and I held it there, what would happen...? Yes you’re right, the water is going to fall from the cup. 
 
Your business is exactly the same, if you have a really weak context in your business and there are things happening in the marketplace, and let’s be honest there are some major things happening out there in our business environment, particularly here in the UK that could really impact your business. 
 
If your context is really weak, then you could experience significant disruption, when this external pressure is applied to your business. When I talk about working on your business context, I am talking about things like; your mission, your values, your vision, all the glue that holds things together. If you have a team, do you have a team code of honour? Do your team know what’s expected of them? How do your team live out the values of your business? 
 
Other aspects of your context that are really important include your systems and processes. Now believe me I am not a systems or processes person when it comes to process mapping, but I am a systems and process person when it comes to making sure that I’ve got a sales process in place. If you don’t have sales coming into your business, let’s be honest, you don’t have a business. 
 
The biggest problem that am finding business owners who I’ve worked with recently have, and I have to say girls it’s particularly women, the biggest challenge these business owners are facing in their business is that they don’t like selling. They feel like they have to leave themselves to do the sale and then come back to themselves afterwards. They feel like it’s just a yucky thing to do. 
 
I have an amazing process when it comes to sales, selling, closing, creating an amazing experience that not only has impacted my business massively, but now that I’ve shared it with my clients its impacting their businesses significantly too.  
 
My own conversion rates have gone from 20% to 85% in a really short space of time, which doubled my revenue year on year. My clients are getting the same results from a very simple process that I help them with.  
 
So that’s just one of many aspects of business context that I work with people like you on.
